Dr. Hew Len was a student of Morrnah Simeona. He simplified, updated and improved the technique and was the first person who got documented and confirmed proof of the healing miracles of the Ho'oponopono technique.
From 1984 to 1987 Dr. Hew Len worked as a staff psychologist for Hawaii State Hospital overseeing a high security ward housing male criminally insane patients. These patients committed murders, rapes, assaults and due to their degree of "insanity" were locked into a psychiatric high security facility. Violence against each other and staff members were a common occurrence.
In 1987, after 3 years of working at the ward, wrist and ankle restraints were no longer used in the facility. Violence was almost non-existent and usually only involved new patients. New off-site activities were introduced and the energy of the entire ward was greatly improved to the point that the whole unit was closed do to lack of need. Patients improved, and were released or moved into other non-violent wards.
How did such a miraculous change take place within this facility? According to Dr. Hew Len, along with witnesses and other personnel, he did not do any therapy or counseling with patients, nor did he attend any staff conferences on patients. He simply reviewed each patient's file and practiced the Ho'oponopono process on a daily basis. This included accepting 100% responsibility for everything being experienced by him.
You are probably wondering how this works and how he managed to heal these violent patients without even seeing them in person. His answer was, "I didn't heal them. I healed part of myself that created them." He explained that we are 100% responsible for everything.
Wait, what? This is a hard concept to try and grasp. The concept goes like this, everything happens and is created in your mind. Everything you see, everything you hear, every person you meet, you experience in your mind. You only think it's "out there" and you think that means that you are not responsible. Dr. Hew Len believes that it actually works quite the opposite...you are responsible for everything you think and everything that comes to your attention. This may sound harsh and impossible, but the good news is that this means that you are also able to then clear it, clean it and through forgiveness change it.
Cleaning is the actual Ho'oponopono practice. Cleaning what you might be asking yourself? You clean your mind from subconscious garbage and pollution. Programs and stories that run and replay in your mind and your life without (or even with) your participation. The Ho'oponopono practice is simple, It consists of repeating the following phrases just like a mantra:
Please forgive me,
I love you,
Repeating these phrases energizes the self-transformation process and it's exactly what Dr. Hew Len did to cause divine transformation at the Hawaii State Hospital. The most powerful and impactful phrases are " I love you" and "thank you". The importance and power of love and gratitude are undeniable.
You might be wondering, who do I say these phrases to? The practice says to just say them. There is no need to feel anything special or imagine anything specific. You just repeat the phrases and the cleaning process just happens. You can clean life situations and relationships. When something comes to your awareness, accept 100% responsibility and then repeat the phrases. No guilt trips, no analyzing, no judgments, simply utilize the practice. Divinity does the rest. The Ho'oponopono practice is a prayer of letting go and letting God heal it.
I invite you to give a try. Don't over analyze it, don't try and figure it out, just give it a try and see what happens. I instantly feel a shift when I practice the technique. I would love to hear your experience with it.
